HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- A day before the start of free agency, Rockets center Nene has elected to decline his $3.8 million player's option for next season and become a free agent.
Nene, 36, appeared in 42 games for the Rockets last season, averaging 3.6 points and 2.9 rebounds in 13 minutes and played in seven of the team's 11 playoff games.
The Rockets now have just seven players with guaranteed contracts on their roster: James Harden, Chris Paul, Eric Gordon, Clint Capela, P.J. Tucker, Gary Clark, and Isaiah Hartenstein, whose contract becomes fully guaranteed July 15.
