
Johnson Jr. has always been labeled as a third down back, great specialty player that can catch the ball out of the backfield, but never a bell cow running back. In fact, Johnson Jr., has never had a season in which he had more rushing yards than receiving yards. That’s a narrative he wants to change.
“I’ve always been ready (to be an every down back), especially mentally. Physically, I guess we’ll find out,” Johnson Jr. told reporters on Thursday.
Hyde, 28, joins his fifth team in three seasons after being traded to Houston from Kansas City. It’s a journey that makes him want to prove people wrong.
“I’m definitely coming in with a chip on my shoulder. I’ve been traded twice, so things haven’t been going how I wanted,” Hyde said. “I have a fresh start right now and I have an opportunity to change a lot of people’s minds, so I’m ready to go.”
