Houston (SPORTSRADIO 610) - Texans backup quarterback Joe Webb III suffered a significant foot injury in Thursday night’s preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Webb III was carted off the field in the fourth quarter and was seen on crutches in the locker room.

Webb III returned to the game after Jordan Ta’amu led the one drive, which didn’t go well.

The Texans punted after three plays and -4 yards.

Head coach Bill O’Brien called Webb’s injury significant at Friday’s press conference.

When SportsRadio 610 Texans insider John McClain asked O’Brien if Webb would need surgery, the coach could not say.

“I don’t know that. I’d be remiss if I said that,” O’Brien said. “I’d say it’s significant, though.”

At 32 years old, Webb III is entering his 10th year in the NFL. He has been with the Texans since 2018 as a reserve quarterback and wide receiver but got a majority of his playing time on special teams.
