HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) – Keke Coutee's availability for the Texans' Week 2 matchup against Jacksonville appears to be heading in the right direction.

"The arrow is trending towards him being able to play, but I think we're probably going to have to see that today (Friday), see how today goes and see how he feels tomorrow.  We have a ways to go before the game, but he's been out there at practice, so we'll see," Texans' Head Coach Bill O'Brien said.

Coutee, 22, has not appeared in a preseason or regular season game since injury his ankle in the first preseason game of the year against Green Bay.

In 2018, Coutee's rookie year in the NFL, he missed 10 games due to a hamstring injury that lingered all season.

If Coutee is available to play, he will join a crowded wideout corp that added Kenny Stills before the regular season, and Stills caught a touchdown pass in the season opener at New Orleans.  While, Coutee will probably be active on Sunday if he's healthy enough to play, it does force O'Brien into a tough decision when deciding his 46-man gameday roster.

"The inactives this week will be interesting, we haven't decided who they're going to be, because a lot of guys are playing well but you have to pick your seven inactives," O'Brien said about the roster crunch.  "It's going to be an ongoing conversation to try to do what's best for the team."
