HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- The Rockets and Eric Gordon have agreed to a three-year, $54.5 million contract extension, the Houston Chronicle reported late Friday night.
Gordon, 30, had one year remaining on the four-year, $53 million contract he signed with the Rockets in July, 2016. The extension will begin during the 2020-21 season, and while the initial three years are guaranteed, Gordon would get a fourth year for an additional $20.9 million if he is selected to an All Star Team or the Rockets win an NBA championship over the course of the deal.
"I definitely want to win here," Gordon said when asked by SportsRadio 610 about the possibility of signing an extension after the Rockets playoff loss to the Golden State Warriors. "I love Houston, I really do. My career has thrived here, I've done well here, and I would love to be here as long as I can."
During his first three seasons with the Rockets, Gordon has averaged 16.8 points per game while shooting 36.4 percent from behind the three-point line, but more importantly, after dealing with injury issues during his five season run with the New Orleans Pelicans, Gordon has appeared in over 86 percent of the Rockets regular season games the last three seasons without missing any of the team's 39 playoff games.
Now, along with Gordon, the Rockets have James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Clint Capela, and Danuel House under contract for the next three seasons.
