Fresh off the news that Lamar Miller would miss the 2019 season after tearing his ACL and MCL in the game against Dallas, the Texans had to be encouraged that half a dozen other players were dressed on Monday and could all be ready for the Week 1 matchup at New Orleans.
“Lamar (Miller) getting injured, but I would say overall I think the health of the training camp has been decent. We've really tried to map out reps for different guys and things like that, and I think so far, relative to other camps that we've had, the health of the team is pretty good," Texans’ Head Coach Bill O’Brien told the media following Monday’s practice.
The return of Kalil and Coutee are both encouraging. With Reid, Gipson and Howard, it’s been assumed that they would be ready to go when the regular season starts, but Kalil has been a mystery ever since the joint practice with Detroit, and news on Coutee has been hard to find.
“I think they’re on the right track, headed in the right direction,” O’Brien added. “Obviously neither one of them would play Thursday night, but I think they're headed in the right direction."
