The Texans traded former third-round offensive lineman Martinas Rankin to the Kansas City Chiefs for running back Carlos Hyde, according to media reports.
Hyde could address the Texans' needs at running back after losing Lamar Miller to a torn ACL in the third preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys.
It was first reported that Houston would be cutting Rankin, picked in the third round and 80th overall in 2018, from the 53-man roster.
Instead of cutting him, the Texans get back Hyde, who has 3,300 rushing yards over the last five seasons. Hyde started all 16 games for the San Francisco 49ers in 2017 before splitting time in Cleveland and Jacksonville last season.
