HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) – Laremy Tunsil's arrival to anchor the left side of the Texans' offensive line is the move the organization was looking for all along.

The goal of the offseason, whether it was former General Manager Brian Gaine, or the new regime that are sharing the duties of GM, the Texans wanted a bodyguard for Deshaun Watson after being sacked 62 times in 2018.

Watson, the young quarterback who always says the right thing, knows he's getting a really good player to protect his blind side.

"Great football IQ, very athletic, (he) just loves the game of football. He's already fitting in with the whole locker room and everyone is talking to him, making him feel at home and comfortable. As far as on the field, he's a professional, he's a great left tackle, he's a great teammate and he's a guy that works hard every day," Watson said of his new bodyguard.

The price was steep to bring Tunsil to Houston.  The Texans sent two first-round picks and a 2021 second-round selection to Miami in exchange for Tunsil, Kenny Stills, a 2020 fourth-round pick and a 2021 sixth round-pick, but to protect the franchise quarterback, the Texans felt it was a price they had to pay.

"It's always good to have some guys up there that work hard and be able to protect you as long as they can," Watson added.  "I try to get the ball out to help those guys and we be on (the same) page."
