Rockets guard Chris Paul was fined $35,000 for aggressively confronting and recklessly making contact with a game official, the NBA announced Monday.
After securing an offensive rebound in the closing seconds of the Rockets 104-100 game one loss to the Golden State Warriors Sunday, Paul's pass, directed to Eric Gordon sailed out of bounds. When a foul was not called, Paul approached and bumped official Josh Tiven, which resulted in a technical foul, his second of the game. The NBA said it will not suspend Paul for game two Tuesday night.
The NBA also said it will not rescind the first techincal foul called on Paul, which took place with 33 seconds left in the third quarter. He has been called for three technical fouls this postseason, seven triggers an automatic one-game suspension.
