After a 22-19 overtime comeback win against the Buffalo Bills, the Houston Texans are headed to the divisional round for just the fourth time in franchise history.
The Texans did not crack the scoreboard until the end of the third quarter.
They trailed 13-0 at halftime due to an inability to consistently move the ball in the first two quarters.
With the ball on the Bills’ 20-yard line, Deshaun Watson scrambled and muscled his way in for the touchdown.
Referees reviewed the play and the call was upheld. Watson also ran for the two-point conversion to cut the Bills’ lead to 16-8.
The Texans scored on a 41-yard Ka’imi Fairbairn field goal in the fourth quarter.
Carlos Hyde caught a short pass from Watson to take the lead.
After both teams had unsuccessful drives, Watson led the Texans on a game-winner.
Watson dropped back with Bills safety Siran Neal and linebacker Matt Milano charging at him. Both defenders hit Watson, but neither could bring him down as the quarterback bounced out of the pocket and found running back Taiwan Jones for the checkdown.
It put the Texans in field goal range, where Ka’imi Fairbairn hit a 28-yard field goal to win the game.
The Texans await to learn their opponent in the division round after Titans-Patriots.
