HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- After pulling within a point when Gardner Minshew found D.J. Chark Jr. for a four-yard touchdown pass with 30 seconds left, Doug Marrone kept his offense on the field. He wanted to go for the win.
"The whole game came down to this one play," Texans safety Justin Reid said. "You know we all went into the huddle like the game is on the line right here. Everybody just do your job."
Minshew lined up in shotgun with Leonard Fournette standing to his right. He handed the ball to Fournette, was stopped initially, but on a second effort lunged forward, where Reid was waiting.
"I was actually responsible for the back on that play," Reid recalled. "The front line, the D line did a great job pushing the pile, opening it up to where it was basically just me and him. Just had to bow up and make a play."

— Houston Texans (@HoustonTexans) September 15, 2019Despite being at a 25-pound disadvantage, Reid kept the Jaguars powerful back out of the endzone, preserving the lead as the Texans beat the Jaguars 13-12 Sunday at NRG Stadium. The play was reviewed, but Reid knew how it would turn out, and he could hardly contain his excitement.
"I almost threw my arm out with how hard I punched the air. It was a great feeling. It feels good to get a win."
Sunday's win evens the Texans record through two weeks and it comes on the heels of Monday's disappointing loss in New Orleans when Reid and the defense came up short in the fourth quarter, making Sunday's stop all the more sweeter.
"We came out to make a statement tonight," Reid said. "We wanted to let the whole world know that we are the defense that we think we are, we just gotta come out there and do that on a consistent basis week in and week out."
