HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni was released from the hospital Tuesday where he was admitted Friday due to an intestinal infection, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The Rockets announced D'Antoni, 67, would miss Friday's game against the New York Knicks due to the flu. He did not coach the Rockets win over Phoenix Sunday and missed the team's practice Monday. The Chronicle was first to report Monday night that D'Antoni was being treated at Memorial-Hermann Hospital and was suffering from severe dehydration. Tests taken on Monday showed improvement in his condtion.


Associate head coach Jeff Bzdelik has run the Rockets in D'Antoni's absence and will again due so in the team's regular season finale Tuesday night in Oklahoma City. The Rockets can clinch third place in the Western Conference with a win, and can still move up to second, but could also drop to fourth with a loss.

There's no word on when D'Antoni will be able to resume his duties as Rockets coach. The team will begin is postseason run Saturday or Sunday at Toyota Center.
