(SportsRadio 610) -- Running back should not be a position of need for the Texans when they pick at No. 40 overall, considering they just traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals for David Johnson, the fourth-highest paid running back in football.

Consider the Texans also traded what became a third-round pick for Duke Johnson last year.

Still, Houston could be looking for a running back in the second round.

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports the Texans have video conferenced with Ohio State running back prospect J.K. Dobbins, a La Grange, Texas native who was second-team All-American and the Big Ten Conference Running Back of the Year in 2019.

Dobbins, according to Wilson, has video conferences with multiple NFL teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins.

He visited the Dolphins before the NFL placed restrictions on visits to team facilities in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

A similar visit with the Texans had also been planned before the shutdown, according to Wilson.

Dobbins is considered an elusive, powerful running back who would be a perfect fit in the Texans' system.

Our experts, however, disagree on whether the Texans should invest the 40th overall pick in a running back.

Clint Stoerner said he can't find a way to rationalize taking a running back at No. 40.

"I can't even make sense of how Bill O'Brien would be able to justify taking a running back at 40," Stoerner said. "I can't even wrap my head around it. ...

"That would be Bill O'Brien putting himself between a rock and a hard place."

Stoerner believes the running back room is better after subbing Carlos Hyde for David Johnson.

So, how would O'Brien justify bringing Johnson in, just to turn around and take a running back with their first pick in the draft?

Landry Locker has written about the Texans neglecting to address needs on defense. But he sides on drafting the best player available over position of need, differing from Stoerner.

Locker doesn't think an impact defensive player will be available at No. 40 to justify picking one in that spot.

A running back, in that case, makes sense to Locker
