The game was tied 16-16 before Aaron Gordon tapped in a Michael Carter-Williams missed floater, starting an 11-0 Magic run. Orlando led 34-24 after a quarter, outrebounding the Rockets 16-5, scoring 10 second chance points.
Houston brought the lead down to nine when Russell Westbrook connected on an 11-foot fadeaway, but the Magic scored the game's next six points. A Westbrook layup ended that burst, only to see another Gordon tip-in start a 5-0 run. The Rockets were within 14 when James Harden made a pair of free throws with 1:44 to play, though the Magic scored 11 straight, taking advantage of three technical fouls to take a 25-point lead into the locker room. Orlando scored 22 second chance points in the half and 20 points off 12 Rockets turnovers. Westbrook led all scorers with 14 points.
Orlando scored the first five points of the second half to push the lead to 30, and while the Rockets closed to within 21, the Magic still led by 29 after three quarters. Houston never got closer than 20.
Westbrook led the Rockets with 24 points and eight rebounds as the Rockets drop to 39-24 on the season.
Harden added 23 points, but shot just 6-of-19 from the field.
Jeff Green gave the Rockets 18 points off the bench.
Orlando had six players score in double figures, led by D.J. Augustin's 24.
The Rockets will look to end their four-game losing skid when the Minnesota Timberwolves visit Toyota Center Tuesday night.
