HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Houston is now home to the nation's largest BMX bike park after the $25 million Rockstar Energy Bike Park officially opened at a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Sylvester Turner and Houston Sports Authority CEO Janis Burke.
The 20 acre complex is located at Kuykendahl Road and I-45 next to North Houston Skatepark, the nation's largest skatepark and Dylan's Park. It can hold 3,500 spectators and will host the USA BMX Lone Star Nationals in October, the BMX Nationals and World Championship Qualifier next March, and the UCI BMX World Championships in May.
The park, which sold its naming rights to Rockstar for the next five years will feature more than 150,000 square feet of space, a racetrack, concrete bowls, pump tracks, and dirt jumps.
