HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) – Roderick Johnson made his first NFL start on Sunday when he played right tackle in the Texans win over Jacksonville, 13-12.
“We felt like he had a good week of practice. We felt like he earned the start. He had a good training camp, had a good week of practice here. We felt like he had earned the opportunity to start,” Texans’ Head Coach Bill O’Brien said about Johnson.
Here’s @jharrisfootball discussing the offensive line play, which was pretty good. It’s the second week in a row where the line changed. R. Johnson and T. Howard got their first starts for the #Texans. Will we see consistency on the line? https://t.co/oLFasGUC42 pic.twitter.com/VhJcRiomcA

September 15, 2019 Johnson, 23, had a strong training camp for the Texans, and before the trade for Laremy Tunsil, there was some speculation that Johnson should be the team’s starting left tackle.
Johnson, and the rest of the offensive line, allowed a total of four sacks, but the Texans gained 126 yards on the ground in the win.
The Texans replaced two of the five starting offensive linemen from the Week 1 loss at New Orleans as rookie Tytus Howard also joined the starting lineup after missing the Saints game with a broken finger.
