HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Houston Roughnecks cornerback Deatrick Nichols has agreed to a deal with a New Orleans.

Nichols, 25, led the XFL with three interceptions in five games before the season was cut short due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

“It felt awesome (to sign with the Saints)," Nichols told Fox26.  "It’s excellent to go to an organization like that, knowing what type of team they are and try to fit in the system as best as possible. I have to do the same thing I’ve been doing and put my best foot forward.”

Earlier Monday, Roughnecks' quarterback P.J. Walker signed a two-year deal with the Carolina Panthers. The Roughnecks will retain their rights if they become available to the XFL again.

Nichols appeared in two games with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018 after going undrafted out of South Florida.
