In his first game back in the Major Leagues since May 25th, George Springer went 1-for-4 with a single. Alex Bregman scored three times while going 3-for-4 including a single, double and his 22nd home run of the season. Yuli Gurriel and Josh Reddick also reached base safely three times each.
Gerrit Cole had a good start although he was not overpowering, striking out just three. That is a season-low for Cole, and his seven hits allowed are tied for third most in a start this year. He finished six innings giving up just one run and earned his seventh win of the season over his former team.
"It was just unique," Gerrit said. "There's just a lot of memories that you have leading up to the start."
Colin McHugh was also activated from the Injured List and made his first appearance since May 14th. He pitched the ninth inning, striking out one and giving up a single before ending the game. Astros Manager A.J. Hinch was happy with having just enough offense to be able to put him in and give closer Roberto Osuna a night off.
"We need him to be good. We put him in the bullpen to be a weapon," Hinch said.
