HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- George Springer's two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning broke a 3-3 as the Astros beat the New York Yankees 6-3 Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park.

Yuli Gurriel, who singled to start the inning, and Robinson Chirinos, who walked, scored, while Tony Kemp, who walked in front of Springer stopped at third. Jose Altuve's sacrifice fly brought him home. Roberto Osuna tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his fourth save.

Springer's double was his only hit of the game as the Astros won their fifth straight, improving to 7-5 on the seaoson.

Luke Voit got the scoring started when he took Gerrit Cole deep in the top of the first, but the Astros tied the game when Michael Brantley led off the bottom of the second with a double and scored on Gurriel's sacrifice fly. Altuve gave the Astros the lead with a 1-out, solo homer in the third, his third of the season and 100th of his career.

After allowing the long ball to Voit in the first inning, Cole sailed through the next four innings, surrendering just two hits and a walk, but the Yankees got to him in the fifth. Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge walked to start the inning, and after Voit grounded into a fielder's choice, Gary Sanchez doubled home a pair to make the score 3-2 New York.

Cole gave up three runs on four hits in seven innings and struck out six. He was taken off the hook for the loss when Brantley doubled home Alex Bregman with two out in the seventh.

Hector Rondon worked around a single in the eighth, earning the win.

Brantley finished with three hits, an RBI, and a run scored, while Altuve and Josh Reddick added a pair of hits.

Sanchez was the only Yankee with a multi-hit game.

The Astros will try for the sweep of the Yankees and finish their first homestand of 2019 6-0 when they host the Yankees Wednesday night.
