The Texans tight end stands at 6 feet, 7 inches tall. He played professional basketball overseas from 2008 to 2012 before joining the NFL in 2013.
Both of Fells' catches Sunday in the Texans 53-32 win against the Atlanta Falcons went for touchdowns.
During the Texans 17-0 run in the third quarter, Fells showed his quickness catching an 8-yard pass in the end zone.
It was the second big day for Texans tight ends this season. Against the Chargers two weeks ago, Jordan Akins also caught a pair of touchdown passes.
Fells, 33, was signed by the Texans to a one-year contract in March. Bill O'Brien said Monday that Fells has been a great addition to the Texans this season.
"He's a very mature guy, works very hard at being as good as he can be at the role that we ask him to play every week," O'Brien said. "He blocks well and he did a really good job in the red area (Sunday). He's a hard guy to handle because he's 6'7. He's a big guy, he's got long reach. So he's able to go up and get those balls. Those were great throws and excellent catches by Darren."
