Texans' Deshaun Watson, J.J. Watt React To Patrick Mahomes Contract

(SportsRadio 610) -- Deshaun Watson is up next.

On Monday, it was Patrick Mahomes setting records for NFL and professional sports contracts with his new deal worth up to $503 million with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mahomes is the reigning Super Bowl MVP, and the regular season MVP in the previous year, which was just his second in the league.

Watson is right there with him in terms of potential -- both going into their fourth seasons -- and is expected to command a lucrative contract extension with the Texans.

His teammates, and Watson himself, definitely took note of the Mahomes deal.

J.J. Watt tagged Watson on Twitter with Shaq's shoulder-shaking GIF, indicating something really good is about to happen.

Linebacker Dylan Cole tagged Watson with the report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, and the QB responded with a smiling baby face meme.

Safety Justin Reid jokingly questioned whether it's too late to start playing quarterback.

Correction... 500+ Ms!?!?Is it too late to play QB? Lol, well deserved. https://t.co/lnywknjKfb

Schefter reports the Mahomes contract includes $477 million in guarantee mechanisms and the ability for Mahomes to have outs if those mechanisms are not exercised. His contract guarantees $140 million for injury.

Watson is reportedly seeking a much shorter term deal, possibly three years, though it's unclear whether Mahomes' deal will impact negotiations with the Texans.
