Backup quarterback Joe Webb III is having foot surgery Wednesday, Houston Chronicle reporter Aaron Wilson
reported.
Webb was injured at the end of last Thursday's preseason finale against Los Angeles Rams.
Head coach Bill O'Brien later called the injury "significant," and at the time would not say whether Webb III would need surgery.
Webb III is entering his 10th season in the NFL.
The Texans are going to rely on AJ McCarron as the backup quarterback to Deshaun Watson. QB Alex McGough was signed to the practice squad.
