News broke Monday morning that the Texans offered Mathieu a long-term deal near $9.5 million per year, and later, John McClain reported that the Texans offered $11 million per year to the Honey Badger.

Texans offered Mathieu $11 mil per year. Chiefs got him for $14. That's double what he made in his one season in Houston when he signed for one year and $7 mil.

The Texans still have options at safety in free agency with Adrian Amos and Early Thomas still available on the market and there is still Andre Hal, who returned from battling cancer to play in the last eight games of the season - recording three interceptions and thirteen tackes.

But could the best safety already be on the roster?

If you look at Justin Reid's stats last season, he arguably was the best safety on the roster with 88 tackles and three interceptions and the return against the Washington Redskins.
