Houston (SPORTSRADIO 610) - Houston Texans Head Coach Bill O'Brien has seemingly found a good spot for their first-round pick to start his NFL career. Tytus Howard had been working on the left side of the offensive line to protect Deshaun Watson, but his position along with others had been unclear. According to O'Brien, working in Howard at left guard has been most beneficial, although left tackle is still a possibility.

"There's a lot of traffic in there when you do that, but it is a good place for rookies to start where there's somebody on either side of them," O'Brien said. "Tytus is a very smart player, really a level-headed guy that studies hard, and he can learn both. We've played him a lot at guard early on here, [Matt] Kalil at left tackle, and as we move them around we'll only keep him on the left side. And he'll get his tackle reps, but it's been good to see him get a bunch of reps at guard."

The battle for the left tackle position is certainly not over, though the latest experiment at guard seems fruitful. As mentioned by O'Brien, veteran tackle Matt Kalil came to the Texans this offseason to compete for the starting role. Seantrel Henderson was also brought in on a one-year deal to work for the position.
