(SportsRadio 610) -- Veteran NFL running back Adrian Peterson said he is expecting NFL players across the league to kneel together to protest racism, police brutality and social injustice.
Peterson spoke to reporters in The Heights on Friday during a charitable event and he was clear about players' intentions in the wake of Houston native George Floyd's killing by a Minneapolis police officer last month.
"You see it from around the league. Guys that have a platform, they are speaking up about it. It was just four years ago, you see (Colin) Kaepernick taking a knee. Now we're all getting ready to take a knee together going into this season without a doubt."
A public viewing for George Floyd is scheduled in Houston for Monday. There will be a public funeral Tuesday.
His killing has spurred widespread outcry of police brutality and racism, which is the issue NFL players have been speaking about since Kaepernick first took a knee during the national anthem in 2016.
"Are they going to try to punish us all?" Peterson added. "If not playing football is going to help us save lives and change things, then that's just what it has to be."
