(SportsRadio 610) -- With the Texans trading away the 57th overall pick in the draft last week for wide receiver Brandin Cooks, it seems reasonable to expect them to focus on the defensive side of the ball at pick No. 40.

The Texans do not have a first-round selection, so No. 40 in the second round will be their first pick.

Texans insider John McClain's latest mock draft has the Texans picking defensive tackle Justin Madubuike, who played the last three seasons at Texas A&M.

Madubuike made a name for himself as a sophomore in 2018, earning the team's defensive player of the year award after leading the squad with three forced fumbles and 6.5 sacks.

The McKinney, Texas native followed that up by leading the Aggies with 11.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in 12 games (11 starts) as a junior in 2019.

The Texans could use some help rushing the passer, but they also have needs in the secondary.

SportsRadio 610 host Clint Stoerner said Tuesday the Texans should draft a defensive back.

"I think if the Texans choose to go best available, it will be in the front-7," Stoerner said. "I think if they consider what they have in uniform right now, as unproven young players in the locker, I think the need spot on this team is a cover defender.

"I'm just not completely bought into the interior defensive lineman being enough of a difference maker to overlook the needs in the secondary."

Houston Chronicle Texans insider Aaron Wilson has the Texans taking LSU cornerback Kristian Fulton.

Fulton was considered LSU's top corner in 2019 as freshman Derek Stingley Jr. also emerged, creating a dominate tandem for the Tigers.

Fulton led LSU with 14 pass breakups in their undefeated season.
