HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- Pro Football Hall of Famer and Houston Oilers legend Warren Moon joined Clint Stoerner and Ron Hughely to share his thoughts on Deshaun Watson and the Texans' offense, among other topics.

"He's had a major injury since he's been in the league and was still able to come back strong from that injury and lead his team to a playoff berth and then the next year, take a little bit further and go a little bit further in the playoffs," Moon said. So each year, he's gotten better, not only as a player but his team has gotten better. I think it's just a matter of time before he gets a couple of more pieces around him to where that team can take that next step."

When Clint asked Moon how the change at Texans' change at play-caller -- from head coach Bill O'Brien to offensive coordinator Tim Kelly -- could make an impact on Watson, Moon had this to say.

"It's huge. I think the quarterback and the offensive coordinator almost have to be connected at the hip," Moon said, adding this is how he was with Kevin Gilbride in Houston and Brian Billick in Minnesota. "You want to be on the same page, and especially as you get to be in the league a little bit longer like Deshaun now has. He should have more input into the things that he likes to do as they go through the game plan throughout the week. And you start throwing things out that maybe he doesn't like as well and you put the things into the game plan that he really enjoys.

"That's what having that type of relationship can do for those two. When you're the head coach doing that, you have so many other responsibilities, you can't really spend that type of time with your quarterback one-on-one as much as you probably need to. So, this is going to make Bill be more of a head coach and think more about time management and timeouts and different things like that and challenges, as opposed to having to worry about the play-calling. And just looking at the overall demeanor of his team, whether he has to go over to the defense and say something to them when the offense has the ball, or whatever it might be. It will allow him to be more of a head coach, giving up some of those responsibilities."
