Bill Watkins (Sabine): "I Like Turtles"
Fishing has been good this week with the wind calming down. I got on the jetty yesterday, a little bumpy but the water had cleared up and the trout were stupid out there. Been throwing soft plastics with a quarter ounce jig head. The white or the clear with sparkles are working well.
Richard Tatsch (Conroe):
It is being proposed that there no longer be a minimum length on catfish. You would be able to keep 25 cats, only keep 1 cat over 30 inches. Would be able to keep 10 maximum over 20 inches. These fish start spawning at about 9-10 inches long. Up here in Conroe these cats are spawning at least 3 times a year. Had a little bit of breeze yesterday, but once that sun comes up that wind is settling down and it's getting crazy hot.
Charlie Paradowski (Matagorda):
It has been crowded all week, parking lot full every day. Lakes, bays, doesn't matter everyone is packed. The wind is down finally, everybody is catching fish. Drifting, wading, doesn't matter. A lot of red fish showing up in east bay. They had been scarce, had really disappeared but they are showing up now and coming back. People are being good about spreading out but you look on the horizon and you see boats from one end to another. Didn't hear of any big trout weighing in this week.
