Lynn Smith (POC): "Frozen Smoke"People all over the place, the crowds are unbelievable. The number of people on the water is amazing. We went out and threw top waters the other day, those lady fish ate us up, those skipjacks were everywhere. With the wind picking up it really brought that sand in and dirtied the water, so I started throwing the watermelon red. As a last resort I picked up a frozen smoke color, normally good in clear water, but I threw that bait and the trout jumped all over it as soon as it hit the water. Had some trout up to 24 inches. Captain Mick used to throw the frozen smoke shrimp tail in Galveston Bay often and had great results.Blaine Friermood (Baytown):The ships coming down the channel have been sucking that water down and spitting it out. A lot of North in the wind this morning, not much east. Eagle Pointe is 8-10 mph right now (5:45am). Shore line was rough yesterday but I'm going to try it today. Water over by the monument inn was real salty yesterday. After Harvey the San Jac river really brought a ton of debris this way even all over the bay-- you have to watch out, always be aware.
