The Atlanta Hawks had arguably the biggest offseason of any team in the NBA. General Manager Travis Schlenk brought in five veteran additions and drafted a pair of younger guys.
With so much made about the makeover and how head coach Lloyd Pierce will manage rotations, it's easy to forget about an addition made last season that we haven't seen play out just yet, center Clint Capela.
Capela joined the Hawks just before the trade deadline in February as part of a massive 12-player, four-team deal. But due to a foot injury he has yet to officially suit up for the Hawks.
While the focus heading into this season will certainly be on what Bogdan Bogdanovic and Danilo Gallinari bring to the offense and what Rajon Rondo and Kris Dunn can do for the defense, you can't look past what Capela is hoping to do for the Hawks on both ends of the floor.
Hawks GM Travis Schlenk joined John and Hugh and talked about Capela and how ready he is to see what he can do.
“He’s 100 percent healthy, participated in every practice, and he is what we thought he’d be when we made the deal last year,” says Schlenk. “We kind of look at him like another free agent because we didn’t have the opportunity to see him last year. We’re excited to get him out there and be a part of our new group.”
