HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Astros outfielder George Springer is day-to-day after leaving Monday's win over the Los Angeles Angels with a left elbow contusion suffered when he was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning.
Springer tried to remain in the game after taking a 1-0 fastball from Jacob Barnes off his left elbow at 95 MPH, but left the game during a pitching a change. X-rays came back negative.
The Astros are already undermanned with Alex Bregman and Aledmys Diaz on the injured list and Yordan Alvarez out for the season. They also lack outfield depth behind Springer. They currently have four on the roster, but one, Michael Brantley, just returned from a quad injury and has been limited to being a designated hitter.
