(SportsRadio 610) -- Astros third baseman Alex Bregman homered and batted in four runs in seven innings of work Friday night in his return to a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land.
Bregman has been out since June 17 with a strained left quadriceps and also since nursed a hamstring. His return is after a nearly two-week pause in action.
Astros manager Dusty Baker said he did not know how many rehab games it would take to get Bregman back to Houston.
In Bregman's absence, the Astros have relied on utility player Aledmys Díaz, who's been one of their most productive players since his own return from the injured list July 26.
Díaz is hitting .337 with four home runs over the Astros' last 21 games.
