Jose Altuve went yard in his first three at-bats for the Astros against the Rangers on Tuesday night, starting with a pair off starter Nathan Eovaldi.
It was the All-Star right-hander's return from the injured list, without a rehab assignment, and Altuve gave him quite the welcome back.
Altuve, who had just homered twice in the previous game, greeted Eovaldi with a leadoff homer before ending his outing a with a one-out blast in the second inning.
Altuve's third homer — and 15th of the season — was in the third off Dane Dunning, a starter who came out of the bullpen so the Rangers could get Eovaldi his first start since July 18. Eovaldi had been sidelined by a right forearm strain.
For those keeping count, that's five home runs in six at-bats over the past two games for the Astros' star second baseman.
With the Astros dominating the Rangers these past two games and the Mariners losing to the Reds, Houston now sits alone atop the AL West standings going into Wednesday's action.
