HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- Astros shortstop Carlos Correa is on the injured list due to health and safety protocols, the team announced Friday afternoon.
Manager Dusty Baker had told reporters earlier in the day that Correa, who was just selected to the All-Star team for the second time, was not at the ballpark because he was feeling ill.
Robel Garcia replaced Correa in the lineup.
The team later announced they placed Correa on the injured list due to the health and safety protocols, though it was unclear whether he tested positive for COVID-19, or exactly what the illness is.
Correa went 0-for-4 in the Astros' 2-1 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Thursday. Over his last 44 games, Correa is batting .321 with 13 doubles, 11 home runs, 36 RBI and a 1.047 OPS.
The Astros' All-Star shortstop ranks third the American League in wins above replacement (4.1) and fourth in on-base percentage (.385). Correa also leads AL shortstops in fielding percentage (.986).
