(SportsRadio 610) - The Houston Astros cut ties with veteran righthanded reliever Pedro Báez with less than seven innings pitched over the life of a two-year deal signed last winter.
Báez has been designated for assignment, the team announced Tuesday afternoon. He pitched just 6.2 major league innings after signing a two-year, $12.5 million deal with the Astros last winter.
Báez posted a 3.43 WHIP and 11.57 ERA in three appearances this season. He spent most of last season nursing a shoulder injury. Báez made just four appearances last season, posting a 2.08 ERA in 4.1 innings.
