Astros CF Jake Meyers leaves ALDS Game 4 with injury after play on Gavin Sheets home run

(SportsRadio 610) -- Astros center fielder Jake Meyers left Game 4 of the American League Division Series against the Chicago White Sox after an injury sustained trying to save a run.

White Sox designated hitter Gavin Sheets hit a solo home run to center field off Lance McCullers Jr. in the second inning of Tuesday's game. Meyers made an admirable attempt to catch it at the wall, but barely missed, and jammed his left arm between his body and the wall.

Meyers tried testing the arm out to see if he could stay in the game, but ultimately the Astros went with Chas McCormick to substitute.

Both rookies, Meyers and McCormick have seen action in center since the Astros traded Myles Straw for bullpen help near the trade deadline. Meyers is a more natural center fielder, while McCormick is more of a corner outfielder who is capable in center.

Meyers entered this game 3-for-7 with a pair of RBI in his first postseason series. McCormick, also appearing in his first postseason, is 1-for-2 this series with an RBI entering this game.
