(SportsRadio 610) -- Less than 24 hours after Kyle Tucker hit his first career grand slam to help the Astros beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-1 last night, the outfielder is now on the injured list due to health and safety protocols.
The good news for the Astros is the reinstated first baseman Yuli Gurriel, who's been out the last 11 days with neck stiffness.
Gurriel ranks second in Major League Baseball batting average (.324).
But losing Tucker's availability for any amount of time is significant, especially while Houston awaits third baseman Alex Bregman's return from quad and hamstring injuries.
Tucker is batting .314 with 21 doubles, 17 homers, 55 RBI and a .969 OPS in his last 70 games (since May 9). Tucker had been hitting .188 with a .651 OPS in his first 34 games of the season.
