Houston Astros right-handed starter Hayden Wesneski was placed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow discomfort, the team announced Friday.
The move is retro to May 7. It's yet another blow to the Astros' rotation after losing Spencer Arrighetti last month to a broken right thumb. To take Wesneski's place on the active roster, the Astros recalled right-hander Logan VanWey.
Wesneski, a Cy-Fair High School product who played college ball at Sam Houston State, posted a 4.50 ERA in six starts (1-3) and 32 innings pitched for the Astros.
He was a piece to the Kyle Tucker trade from the Chicago Cubs in the offseason.
