(SportsRadio 610) -- Astros right-handed pitcher Josh James is back on the 40-man roster after recovering from hip surgery.

The team announced Sunday that James was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple A Sugar Land.

James allowed two runs in 2/3 of an inning for the Skeeters on Friday night in a rehab assignment. The move to reinstate James indicates he's close to joining the Major League club.

James, who struggled with command last season, worked his way back from offseason hip surgery and subsequent hamstring injuries.

The Astros already made moves to bolster their bullpen leading up to the trade deadline last week, acquiring Kendall Graveman Rafael Montero from the Seattle Mariners; Yimi Garcia from the Miami Marlins; and Phil Maton from Cleveland.
