Astros general manager James Click told reporters Tuesday the team is still having active conversations with Carlos Correa's representation about a potential contract extension.

The Astros' shortstop, who would become a free agent after this season if a deal is not reached, has said he wants a deal before the season starts so he can focus solely on baseball.

An offer a couple of weeks ago by the Astros for a six-year extension worth about $120 million was flatly rejected by Correa, who called the offer "really low."

Negotiations stalled, but picked back up over the weekend.

Click did not say whether the two sides are any closer to a deal, but said "We’re going to keep at it.”

Correa, 26, would be the youngest free agent shortstop on the market if he's available. Another potential free agent Francisco Lindor has a similar situation with the New York Mets, who reportedly offered Lindor $325 million over 10 years.
