Ronel Blanco throws no-hitter against Blue Jays in Astros' first win of season

Ronel Blanco threw a no-hitter and Kyle Tucker and Yainer Diaz each hit two home runs to lead the Houston Astros to a 10-0 win Monday night against the Toronto Blue Jays.

It was a dominant response by the Astros after getting swept by the Yankees at home to open the season over the weekend. This game left no-doubt.

The scoring started with back-to-back home runs in the first inning, a two-run shot by Tucker and a solo homer by Diaz. They did it again to finish things off in the seventh inning, another two-run blast by Tucker and a solo home run by the catcher.

But that was just part of a big night for Diaz, who also caught the no-hitter by Blanco, a 30-year-old pitcher making just his eighth career start. It marks the 17th no-hitter in franchise history, including the postseason.

In other encouraging news, shortstop Jeremy Pena homered in the second inning. It was his first home run since July 5.

The Astros improve to 1-4 on the season with the win.
