Astros sign Japanese starting pitcher Tatsuya Imai: reports

The Houston Astros are signing Japanese starting pitcher Tatsuya Imai to a three-year deal, multiple outlets are reporting.

Imai is considered one of the top starting pitchers available this offseason and likely the Astros' replacement for Framber Valdez, who is expected to sign a lucrative deal in free agency.

The deal strengthens the Astros' rotation, led by Cy Young candidate Hunter Brown. Imai's deal is for three years with opt outs after each season.
