HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- The Astros got a bit of good news on Sunday after tests showed the hand injury suffered by Yordan Alvarez in the seventh inning of Saturday's 7-0 loss to the Chicago White Sox was not as serious as the team had feared.

"I was praying half the night he wasn't out 6-8 weeks," Astros manager Dusty Baker said. "What were we gonna do? I was trying to figure that out how I was gonna do that. I wouldn't have had any choice, but I'm just glad I don't have to do that."

Baker declined to reveal what kind of hand injury Alvarez suffered on a seventh inning swing that resulted in ground ball double play to White Sox pitcher Johnny Cueto, or which hand is injured, he just said the outlook on the Astros best hitter is good.

"He's day-to-day," Baker said. "Nothing is structurally wrong."

Alvarez leads all Astros hitters in batting average (.311), home runs (18), RBI (47), on base percentage (.403), slugging percentage (.623), and extra base hits (28).
