Astros pitcher Cristian Javier was scratched from Sunday's start against the Washington Nationals due to neck discomfort, the team announced.
Manager Joe Espada told reporters before Sunday's game that Javier would be placed on the injured list.
Hunter Brown starts the rubber match on normal rest in Javier's place.
Javier has a 1.54 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 3.66 FIP through four starts this season.
The Astros split the first two games of the weekend against Washington, winning behind Justin Verlander's season debut start Friday, but unable to maintain a late lead Saturday.
