HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Astros pitcher Josh James underwent surgery on Friday to repair a labral tear in his left hip, Astros general manager James Click announced Saturday.
James, 27, missed three weeks during the season after suffering a hip injury during the Astros 10-8 win at Coors Field on August 20. James finished with a 7.27 ERA in 17.1 innings for the season, but surrendered just one run in 6.2 following his IL stint to close out the regular season.
He allowed four runs in four innings over the course of three postseason outings, but left game five of the ALCS due to back tightness.
The Astros say recovery time is approximately 6-8 months, so he will likely miss the start of the 2021 season.
