(SportsRadio 610) - Yordan Alvarez stole the show Tuesday afternoon.
Everyone has seen it by now. Alvarez, with the Astros down to their final out and two runners on base, launched a 94 mph sinker by last year's AL Cy Young winner Robbie Ray to the upper deck in right field to win Game 1 of the ALDS.
But it wasn't just Alvarez who came up major for Houston. After Justin Verlander turned in a subpar performance, the bullpen minimized further damage. The Astros don't win the game without Bryan Abreu, Rafael Montero and rookie Hunter Brown.
Speaking of the rookies, how about the David Hensley and Jeremy Peña at-bats leading up to the Alvarez ninth-inning walk-off shot?
And we can't forget about Yuli Gurriel, a seasoned playoff performance who went 3-for-4, including a solo homer in the fourth inning to cut Seattle's lead at the time to 6-3.
It was especially good to see from Gurriel, who had a down year after winning the AL batting title in 2021.
Seth Payne and Sean Pendergast break down the biggest unsung heroes from the Astros comeback to win ALDS game 1 vs. the Mariners.
