HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- The Astros bullpen will be without Kendall Graveman for its American League Division Series against the Minnesota Twins due to right shoulder discomfort.

Graveman told reporters Saturday that his shoulder was bothering him at the end of the regular season and he believed it stemmed from when he left a game in Boston on August 30 due to lower back discomfort.

“I think there’s some stuff that goes on with that potentially mechanically,” Graveman said. “We saw some things that were a little different. And that can stress the arm in certain ways and different ways."

Graveman compiled a 2.42 ERA in 24 appearances since the Astros re-acquired him in a trade with the Chicago White Sox on July 28. The 32-year old righty says he's hopeful he'll be able to pitch if the Astros advance in the postseason.

"It just depends how his shoulder responds to treatment," Astros manager Dusty Baker said. "At this time of the season, if something's not wrong with you, you haven't been playing or pitching. We just hope that he responds to treatment."
