Astros take eighth straight Silver Boot from Rangers, back atop AL West

The Astros reclaimed the lead atop the American League West standings after beating the Texas Rangers and a loss by the Seattle Mariners to the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday.

For Houston, it's the eighth straight Silver Boot against the in-state rival, while also repositioning the playoff picture. The Astros beat the Rangers 6-4 on the strength Yusei Kikuchi's 5 1/3 innings in which he gave up two runs.

Yordan Alvarez and Victor Caratini both homered for the Astros. It was Alvarez's second home run in as many days. Meanwhile, the Mariners lost 6-2.

The Astros have Thursday off before hitting the road to face the Boston Red Sox this weekend.
