HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Rockets center Clint Capela will miss 4-6 weeks after undergoing surgery on his injured right thumb, the team announced Thursday.
The operation was performed by Dr. Steven Shin in Los Angeles and it repaired a torn ligament suffered in the Rockets 116-109 loss in Orlando Sunday.
Capela continued to play after suffering the injury in the third quarter. X-Rays after the game came back negative, but ESPN reported Monday that an MRI showed ligament damage. Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni said Monday the team was seeking a second opinion.
In his fifth NBA season, Capela is averaging career-highs in points (17.6), rebounds (12.6), and minutes (34.2) after signing a five year, $90 million contract in August.
