Rockets' Alperen Şengün named finalist for NBA Most Improved Player Award

Rockets center Alperen Şengün is a finalist for the NBA Most Improved Player of the Year Award.

In his third NBA season, Şengün improved his points per game average by nearly seven points, from 14.8 last season to 21.1 in 2023-24. He also played more minutes and shot more free throws as the focal point of the Rockets' offense until a right ankle sprain and bone bruise to his knee kept him out of the final stretch of the season.

Joining Şengün in the nominations are Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey and Chicago Bulls guard Coby White.

Şengün is the only member of the Rockets nominated for an award.
